Year 8 Pastoral Care focuses on creating and supporting students for a smooth transition into life at Good Shepherd College.
The Pastoral Care Program also provides many opportunities for students to engage in activities to build relationships with one another to create a cohesive year 8 group, as well as giving students support across all areas of College life.
In year 8, students are timetabled one Pastoral Care lesson per week where the focus is on a range of activities to assist students in their transition into high school. These activities include:
- Team building and ‘getting to know you’ activities
- ICT induction and how to use Moodle (homework interface)
- The GSCC Assessment policy
- Time management skills
- Understanding assessment
- Sporting competitions
As well as specific weekly lessons there are also organised events for students to be involved in with senior students and teachers. These activities include
- Year 8 Parish Retreat
- School Sleepover Night
- Bowling Night
This term, we are also running a comprehensive study skills evening, to provide parents and students with information to support the academic growth of all students here at Good Shepherd College.
