Year 8 Pastoral Care focuses on creating and supporting students through a smooth year at Good Shepherd Catholic College.
The Pastoral Care Program also provides many opportunities for students to engage in activities to build relationships with one another to create a cohesive year 8 group, as well as giving students support across all areas of College and community life.

In Year 8, students are timetabled one Pastoral Care lesson per fortnight where the focus is on a range of activities to assist students during high school. These activities include:
- Team building and ‘getting to know you’ activities;
- Time management skills;
- Setting goals;
- Positive affirmations;
- Resilience;
- Bullying and Cyber bullying;
- Confidence;
- Self-talk;
- Self-Image;
As well as specific weekly lessons there are also organised events for students to be involved in with senior students and teachers. These activities include
- Year 8 Retreat which focuses on self-image and kindness. This retreat involves rotations throughout the first half of the day followed by a whole cohort activity (Term 2);
- School feast days;
- School sporting events;
The Pastoral Care Program is a valuable addition to the curriculum and aims to provide students with the skills they need to develop positive self-image, self-esteem on shaping their values and perceptions of themselves.
